 Jody Trainer is a an elite Canadian poker player and poker columnist from Abbotsford, BC. Trainer, who

has played both locally and internationally, has been successful at both live tournaments and online play.

Trainer's breakout success came in 2006 with a 3rd place finish in the Paradise Masters Event in the

Bahamas. That year he also has a 12th place finish in the World Poker Tour Legends of Poker at the

Bicycle Casino, won the BC Poker Championship PLHE event, and won the Orleans Open.Trainer has

quietly accumulated tournament wins in both live and online play totalling more than $800,000. This

includes a 3rd place finish at the Johnny Chan Poker Classic hosted at the River Rock Casino & Resort in

May 2007 and was also ranked the #1 Canadian player during the World Championship of Online Poker

 held by pokerstars (WCOOP) in 2007 winning over $230,000 in a three week span.That same year Jody

was also named the Canadian Poker Tour player of the year for his success in live tournament play and

 was also featured on the front cover of Canadian Poker Player Magazine .

Unfortunately very shortly after and with a great poker career in front of him ,tragedy struck twice ,first his

 dad was diagnosed with a major brain tumor and then Jody had a glass beer bottle explode in his face,had

 emergency surgery to save his eye but unfortunately seriously affecting his eye and blurring much of his

vision , Jody has played very limited since and is still seeing doctors to help repair his vision.Jody has been

 a sponsored poker player with paradise poker,was the 2007 Canadian poker tour player of the year and

also the WPT ambassador for Canada . Jody is an avid supporter of poker in Canada and namely B.C, will

always help support a good cause and before his eye injury ran many charity tournaments.Trainer enjoys

supporting our local card rooms and both poker in B.C and Canada , and hopes to once again return to the

 game that he loves, but has lost due to a very unfortunate incident
